Mechanical Design Engineer with SPM and Solid Edge

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Special Purpose Machinery (SPM) and proficiency in Solid Edge. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative mechanical solutions for our diverse range of projects. Your focus will be on creating efficient, reliable, and cost-effective machinery designs, ensuring the successful execution of our company’s engineering objectives.

Responsibility:

  • Conceptualize and Design: Utilize your expertise in mechanical engineering principles to develop conceptual designs for specialized machinery, catering to various industry requirements.
  • Solid Edge Proficiency: Demonstrate a strong command of the Solid Edge software to create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for the machinery designs.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, manufacturing specialists, and other engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into the overall project framework.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Work closely with the prototyping team to build and test proof-of-concept prototypes to validate the design's functionality, performance, and durability.
  • Engineering Analysis: Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to optimize the mechanical design's performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Design Modifications and Improvements: Continuously identify opportunities for design enhancements and implement modifications to improve the machinery's efficiency and user-friendliness.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and assembly instructions, to facilitate the manufacturing process.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all design outputs meet the company's quality standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Cost Optimization: Collaborate with the procurement team to source cost-effective materials and components without compromising the quality and performance of the machinery.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest developments in mechanical engineering, SPM technologies, and design practices to bring innovation to the projects.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably with specialization in Special Purpose Machinery (SPM), custom equipment, or automation systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Solid Edge or equivalent CAD software for 3D modeling and detailed design documentation.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis techniques.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify and solve complex engineering problems, think critically, and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation and implementation.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: A positive attitude and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment are essential.
  • Experience with SPM: Prior experience working on SPM projects, handling automation, robotics, or custom machinery designs will be a significant advantage.
